About Me

Hi, I'm Christine Cunningham, I’m originally from Northern Ireland but moved in 2001 with my family to Merseyside. My previous work background was in Office work and Accounts, it was very people oriented and often work colleagues would come to my office and share their concerns with me.

I started to wonder what job would allow me to use the skill of listening, day to day in helping others and after some research, I signed myself up for a Level 1 in Counselling Skills course. I immediately loved what the course was teaching me and decided this was the path for me. Eventually, I gave up my job in Accounts and started working in different areas of care, while completing my counselling training. This experience has given me insight into the diverse issues affecting children, young people, and adults, as well as the support systems available to them.

I've gained valuable experience working in two Residential Behavioural Units with young people between the ages of 11-17 years-old, and at The Hive in Birkenhead as a Youth Worker and Volunteer Mentor, supporting children, young people, and adults between 8-25 years old.

To broaden my understanding of the challenges people face day to day, I volunteered with various charities while completing my counselling training. These included the YMCA and Tomorrow's Women in Birkenhead and with RASA and Place2Be in Liverpool.

As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I'm committed to ongoing learning and improving my skills. I also follow strict ethical guidelines to ensure I'm providing the best possible care.
