I, Christine Cunningham, a Counsellor, Life Coach and Supervisor, am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, (BACP) and I adhere to their Ethical Framework.

Confidentiality

I am required to keep all information from client sessions confidential but there are some situations which oblige me to break confidentiality, they are as follows:

• If a client has committed a serious criminal offence or is involved in terrorist activity.
• If a client is being abused or it emerges that my client was sexually abused in childhood and there is the possibility of further abuse being committed, my responsibility is to work with my client to disclose, if possible, to the authorities.
• If I consider there is serious, danger to my client harming themselves or another person.
• If referring a client to another professional for help or sharing basic information relating to a client’s health with a health professional, involved in their care.

In all cases these decisions would be discussed with my supervisor, and my client would be informed, if appropriate.

As a member of the BACP, I am required to have a Clinical Supervisor, who I will visit regularly and use this time to discuss therapeutic work in sessions. I will keep client’s personal information, confidential and my supervisor will ensure, I am working Ethically and Safely and adhering to the BACP Ethical Framework.

I will keep brief anonymous notes of our session, and they will be stored under the requirements of the Data Protection Act 2018. I am registered with the ICO, Information Commissioner’s Office, you can request to see a copy of my Privacy Policy, my registration number is ZA761703.

Contact Between Sessions

Contact to make, rearrange, or cancel appointments can be made by email or text message.

In the event of sudden illness or my death, Counsellor, Sharon Hunter-Armitage will contact you to inform you of this news and offer you alternative Counselling arrangements and will dispose of all my clients records appropriately.

Sessions and Fees

Sessions last 50 minutes but this can be adapted to suit the needs of each individual client.

Sessions can be conducted face to face in my counselling room or online and in the event of a break in our internet connection, I will endeavour to call you on your phone to continue our session.

I will send a confirmation text before our session and wait 5 minutes for you to join our session on the day, before sending you a reminder text, I will then wait a further 10 minutes before ending the session. Please don’t record our sessions.

Regular reviews of the counselling sessions will take place; the timing and frequency of them will be mutually agreed between client and counsellor.

Sessions cost £55 and can be paid by Cash on the day or by Bank Transfer before your appointment into my Personal Account - details will be emailed to the client.

A fee of £55 will be payable for cancelled sessions unless sufficient notice (24 hours) is given.

The client has the right at any time to terminate the sessions by informing the counsellor. If the client prefers to terminate the sessions through the parent/guardian, it will be the responsibility of the nominated person to inform the counsellor.

I do not write reports.
