Working Together

Initial Consultation

I can offer a free 15-minute phone call to discuss your needs and explain how I work if required. This helps us both decide if we're a good fit and it's a chance for you to ask questions and for me to understand what you're looking for in therapy.

Online and Telephone Counselling

Online and telephone sessions offer flexibility and convenience. You can access support from the comfort of your home, saving travel time and costs. It's just as effective as face-to-face therapy and can be especially helpful if you have a busy schedule or mobility issues.

Adult Counselling

My approach is integrative, which means I draw from various coaching and counselling approaches to tailor my support to your unique needs. I believe there's no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to mental health, personal growth, and achieving your goals.

In our work together, I may incorporate elements from several evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Humanistic Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Play Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Transactional Analysis. Additionally, I may incorporate various coaching techniques to help you set and achieve specific goals, enhance your performance, and make positive changes in your life.

By blending these counselling approaches with coaching strategies, we can create a therapeutic experience that's uniquely suited to your specific concerns, personality, and aspirations. This flexible, client-centred method allows us to adapt our work together as your needs evolve throughout our sessions, whether you're seeking personal growth, overcoming challenges, or striving for particular life goals.

Remember, you're the expert on your own experiences and aspirations. My role is to guide and support you, using the most appropriate techniques from these various approaches and coaching methods to help you achieve your goals, overcome obstacles, and improve your overall quality of life.

Counselling for Children and Young People

I work with children (8+) and young people, offering a supportive environment tailored to their needs. Here's how it works:

Getting Started

Our journey begins with a text or email from you to arrange a brief 15-minute phone call. This call helps me understand your child's needs of therapy and allows you to ask any initial questions. If I believe I can help, I'll explain my Counselling approach and email across my Counselling Contract for you both to read over before our first session.

The First Session

In the first session, we will go through my Counselling Contract together, this session sets the foundation for our work together. We'll discuss confidentiality, explaining that while the young person's sessions are private, we can agree on what information, if any, to share with parents.

The Counselling Process

My primary focus is working directly with your child or young person. Sessions may involve talking, playing games and using creative resources, depending on their age, preferences, and needs of the client. We'll set therapy goals together, considering input from both the child and parents.

I offer periodic reviews and can share resources to help you support your child at home. Sessions last 50 minutes and start of weekly and can move to fortnightly when the relationship has formed. The duration of therapy - whether short-term or long-term - is flexible and based on your child's individual needs.

This approach helps children feel comfortable, encouraging them to open up and engage in the therapeutic process.

Supervision

I offer clinical supervision for counsellors, therapists, and other helping professionals. This includes support staff and healthcare workers. Supervision can be individual or group-based. Using the Seven-Eyed Model, we explore your client work, professional challenges, and personal growth. My goal is to support your development, ensure ethical practice, and help you provide the best care for your clients while maintaining your own well-being.

Couples Counselling

Relationships face various challenges, from communication issues and trust problems to life transitions and external stressors. These can lead to disconnection if not addressed.

Couple counselling offers a safe space to work through these issues. It improves communication, develops conflict resolution skills, rebuilds trust, and helps rediscover connection. You'll gain new perspectives, learn to negotiate differences and strengthen your commitment.

In our sessions, both partners express themselves equally. We'll focus on enhancing intimacy, addressing individual concerns, and developing problem-solving strategies. The pace is set to your comfort, balancing immediate issues with long-term relationship skills.

Seeking counselling is a proactive step towards creating the partnership you desire. It's about working together to build a more satisfying, resilient relationship. Whether facing a crisis or wanting to strengthen your bond, I'm here to support you in creating the loving relationship you deserve.
